NOHA Erasmus Mundus Master's 2012-2013: Application Instructions!
Entry requirements and application procedure
The NOHA Mundus Master’s (in International Humanitarian Action) has been designed for people working or intending to work in the field of humanitarian action; regardless of their race, gender, religion, age, and/or geographical origin.
Candidates are chosen on the basis of the quality of their education and professional background, their experience in and concern for humanitarian issues, their multicultural sensitivity, and their linguistic abilities.
All applicants must follow the joint application procedure as established by the NOHA consortium.
Admission may be granted to applicants who meet the following common admission criteria:
1. Candidates must have obtained, as a minimum, a university first cycle (Bachelor) degree in study discipline and field relevant to Humanitarian Action (Medical sciences, Food sciences, Economic, Political and Social sciences; Education sciences, International Relations; Engineering; and Humanities).
2. Candidates are required to have a recognised qualification in the language(s) of instruction of the university that they plan to attend:
o Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), Belgium: French
o Université Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III (UPCAM), France: French
o Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), Germany: English
o University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland: English
o Universidad de Deusto (UD), Spain: Spanish
o Uppsala universitet (UU), Sweden: English
o Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (RUG), The Netherlands: English
Language qualification requirements:
English:
– TOEFL (550-600 paper, 215-250 computer and 93 internet) or IELTS (6-7) Certificate.
– C1 Certificate (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).
Spanish: B2 - C1 Certificate (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).
French: B1 - C1 Certificate (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR)
3. Practical experience in the area of humanitarian action in governmental, inter-governmental, and/ or non-governmental organisations and institutions is valued.
4. Completed applications received.
Selection criteria
The selection committee takes into account the following criteria:
· Level of motivation and concern for humanitarian issues.
· Type and level of academic qualifications.
· Level of language abilities.
· Type and level of research experience.
· Type and level of professional experience.
Participation costs
- EUR12,600 for non-European students, for the whole study programme (3 semesters) to be paid to the network.
- EUR8,400 for European students, for the whole study programme (3 semesters) to be paid to the network.
Application Procedure: Step-by-step instructions
1. ALL APPLICATIONS for the NOHA Mundus Master’s, that is, the Joint European Master's in International Humanitarian Action, MUST be made online through the ON-LINE NOHA MUNDUS APPLICATION FORM.
2. NO PRINT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED UNLESS SO REQUESTED or AUTHORISED BY NOHA .
3. LOOK AT the online application and prepare all the data that you are asked to provide for each section of the form, and all the documents that you must attach to your application.
4. READ carefully the criteria to determine whether you are eligible to apply for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship (http://www.nohanet.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=10).
5. FILL IN the ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM , completing each and all the sections as requested.
6. ATTACH all compulsory documents:
§ Copy of international passport (Only main page(s)).
§ Certified copy of Diploma (if this document is not in English then your must attach an official translation) and, if available, diploma supplement.
§ Certified copies of academic transcripts.
§ Curriculum Vitae in English (Europass model: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/europass/)
§ Official proof of language abilities (where applicable).
§ 2 reference letters.

15 October 2011 (Central European Time - CET): Opening of the call for Third Country student candidates (Category A) and European student candiadtes (Category B) applying for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships (EMS).
15 December 2011 (CET): Application Deadline for Third Country student (Category A) and European student (Category B) EMS applicants.
15 March 2012 (CET): Application Deadline for Ordinary Candidates.
March 2012: Communication of results to Third Country student (Category A) and European student (Category B) EMS applicants.
June 2012: Communication of results to Ordinary Candidates.
